	iMAGES Festival and "Art Dyke" 2001 Started in 1988, the iMAGES Festival has grown to 11 days and about 200 independent films and videos in all genres. We find out more from Executive Director Kelly Langgard and Suzy Richter - former Claudia's Cage lead singer and one of 11 contestants in the "Art Dyke" competition. We've also got a clip from this year's gay and lesbian program - and last year's "Art Fag" competition winner - Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay's "Forever Young."

	Census 2001 and Same-Sex Couples For the very first time in Canada, the census will specifically count same-sex partners (notice the third option at left). Recent changes to federal and provincial laws now regard common-law couples of "the same or opposite sex" equally, so Statistics Canada is charged with counting all these happy couples on May 15th, 2001. While this might not mean much to the unattached among us, it is a certain recognition that queers have families too.

	Immigration and Same-Sex Couples The government has also made some changes to immigration laws affecting foreign gays and lesbians trying to join their partners in Canada. Bill C-11 means queer Canadians will be able to sponsor their common-law partners as "family status" immigrants instead of having to go the more convoluted "humanitarian and compassionate grounds" route. The catch is you're not considered "common-law" unless you've lived with your partner for one year (!?). Peter Bernier of the Lesbian and Gay Immigration Task Force (LEGIT) helps explain how this all works... or doesn't!

	"Does It Matter?" Produced by the Ottawa Youth Services Bureau and Winter Films, this video is used in high school presentations to help students understand the issues and prejudices faced by young gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered people (and yes, it does address each of them!). We bring you a couple clips.
